Meet: Stan
Painted by Eric Jones
My main goal taking Brian Peterson’s class was to be open to what the lord has using my gift and the secondary goal was to learn a new style of painting. The first time Brian taught how to paint in his style, I was unable to attend. So, I decided to paint Stanley (Stanley #1) in my style using contrasting colors, orange and blue. I finished pretty quickly. I then watched Brian teach another student how to paint in his technique and decided to paint another portrait of Stanley (Stanley #2) with a different pose in B-ri’s style. It came out delightful. I had the prompt to paint a third portrait of Stanley (Stanley #3), maybe from the holy spirit, maybe my own emotions. This last piece was a mixture of my style and B-Peteezy’s. I am not sure why there were 3 except for the process. I believe the lord will reveal to me in time why. But, what god did show me is that my heart needed to be humbled. I use to hate homeless people because I thought they were a drain on society. But one year I was treated with such unnecessary disrespect I almost punched a guy in his mouth. But this guy thought I was homeless and that’s why he was so angry I was in “his” space. Through these pieces and getting to know Stanley, god has shown me that the Lord sees all people are people who need his help. The lord sees all people the same. His love for people are the same whether you last name is Besoms or your first name is Stanley. His love is overflowing for all people. Specifically with Stanley, the lord wanted me to tell him that he a good man. A good, God man.
And he is proud of him.
