Meet: GARY

“Midnight Tunes of Hope”

My new friend Gary. I had an opportunity to meet Gary during my first King’s Table with Faces of Anaheim. Destiny brought us together. Its hard to believe that a meal and conversation would have such an impact in my life. For a thirteen years old boy, its sometimes hard to understand why life isn’t always fair to people. In Gary’s case, he was a hard working construction worker who suffered an accident and eventually had to rely on pain killers to ease his pain. His mobility was limited to a wheel chair, he then gradually moved to a walker and thankfully when I met Gary, he was able to walk with a cane.

One fascinating aspect of Gary that I was so intrigued with, is that Gary worked for a local radio station. He was the DJ who filled the airwaves with tunes, which I would classify as a dream job. As we engaged in deeper conversation, he shared his love for the guitar, which we quickly realized was a shared passion. This encounter has made an everlasting impression on me. Gary has demonstrated that with faith, strength and a humble heart, even the most challenging of days, are filled with God’s grace, love and care.

My hope is to someday see Gary again and continue our conversation about music and his journey. I have so much to learn from him. I pray that God continues to pave his path and keep him healthy and safe.
