Meet: DANIEL

Painted by Judi Westing

“Daniel”

Daniel was born in Huntington Beach, CA. When I started talking with him, I felt a light and joy coming from his soul. He was optimistic about his future. Even as a young child, Daniel liked to fix things. So it’s no surprise that he has amazing mechanical skills, specifically repairing diesel engines. It was God’s great timing that just before the Covid shut-downs, Daniel was hired by Peterbilt in San Diego. Daniel, and his wife Victoria, moved to San Diego (El Cajon area) and it's their hope to save enough money to live in an apartment. They are currently living in their car and although they might have an occasional night in a hotel or airbnb, it is difficult to save for the deposit and challenging when one doesn’t have a solid credit history.

When Daniel learned I was an art teacher he immediately made a reference to Vincent Van Gogh and said, “that guy saw the world in a unique way, just like Christians do.” This is one of the reasons I put swirls of color like Van Gogh’s skies in my painting. Daniel also wanted to share his story and skills with others and give back to his community. It is my prayer that Daniel and his wife will be protected, just like Daniel in the Bible. It is my hope that Daniel and Victoria will find a Christian community, an apartment and a home. It is my prayer that Daniel will see he is worthy and that God’s light will continue to shine from within so all may see that he is a worthy man of God.

Daniel 6: 25 - 27

Then King Darius wrote to the people of every nation and language throughout the land: “May your prosperity abound...

For He is the living God, and He endures forever; His kingdom will never be destroyed, and His dominion will never end. He delivers and rescues; He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth, for He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.
