Meet: BRIAN
Painted by Brian Peterson
“It’s Never Too Late”
Although Brian's life is marked with many actions he's not proud of, Brian has beautifully learned how to use his life experiences for good. Years of alcohol abuse are now his means of connecting and sharing hope with his neighbors. Often, Brian encourages his neighbors at Bridges shelter to see life differently and realize, "It's never too late" to turn things around.
Things changed for Brian a few years back when his father was passing away. What Brian thought would be an opportunity to reconcile his relationship with his father before he passed on, turned into a moment he would never forget. Brian's fathers exclaimed, "It's too late" as Brian attempted to repair damages from his past. Heartbroken, Brian sought comfort in the only One who could comfort him. Who he found was Jesus, patiently waiting to love him through the pain and minister to his heart in a new way. Jesus had a plan to close up the wounds from the world and his broken relationships, and spoke to him one day saying, "Brian, with me, it's never too late". By His spirit and his spoken word, Brian became a beacon for hope, often sharing this message every chance he gets. The Lord gave Brian a testimony, and an experience of his grace and love. Today, it's the joy of Brian's heart to give that all away. Although he never reconciled with his earthly father, he knows without a doubt that he is in right standing with his eternal Father.
In this painting, titled "It's never too late", my aim was to capture the moment the light of the Lord's revelation flooded his heart. Through transitioning color, the "light bulb" moment is captured. It is this moment where Jesus promises to bring dead men to life! Welcome to eternal life Brian!
